Amsterdam’s hip restaurant, Wilde Zwijnen (Wild Swine) is one of those special places you hope to return. The combination of the super friendly staff, lovely deco, candlelight and carefully prepared menu is, in a word: gezellig. The menu is of the organic, seasonal and local variety, expect a new take on Dutch cuisine. The three-course surprise chef’s menu is a good deal (approx €30). Reserve in advance.
In central Amsterdam we also recommend reserving a table at the Lion Noir. The polished wood and artfully positioned lighting at make for a warm and special occasion ambiance and this combined with attentive staff and excellent contemporary Dutch cuisine make the Lion Noir a winner. There’s also a cosy bar with fireplace downstairs for drinks before and aft.
