A beautifully-designed garden house with a Scandinavian (sorry, ‘Dutch’) feel, a few minutes from the city center. Ideal for architecture-sensitive types who love the occasional peace and quiet on the urban front-line.
The Garden House is essentially a large, cosy and comfortable studio with a separate bathroom & toilet, large French doors and an outdoor deck that soaks in plenty of sunshine.
The house was built with natural & quality products – there’s been great attention to details given throughout. We love the mix of new timber wood with antique furniture, modern lighting fixtures with vintage lamp shades, old with new tiles. The result is cool and chilled.
Located on most of the most beautiful streets of Amsterdam – peaceful & atmospheric, the garden house is right across Vondelpark. There’s loads of cafes and restaurants in the area and you’re a short saunter from the new Rijksmuseum. The nearby trams will take you right into town in no time. Lucy is kind enough to provide top-up transport cards, which is a lot easier/cheaper than buying tickets each time.
What We Love
The relaxed, stylish retreat in the heart of a buzzing city – the design is simple & wonderful. Everything has been thought out so guests have a nice stay.
Civilization starts with complimentary tea & coffee so 12 points to Lucy for putting all that’s needed in the room.
We can’t resist a good selection of books and the bookshelves has everything you need to keep you entertained on rainy days.
The Garden House is surprisingly warm, comfortable and cosy even when the weather turns foul (a common occurrence in Amsterdam) so it’s good for any season.
Note that it is located at the back of Lucy’s yard, so you need to walk through their house come and go, but that’s not particularly awkward and you will be given your own key.
Minimum stay is two nights, maximum five.
