Situated in a former powerhouse Sentral on a university campus, this contemporary art space is definitely worth the trip for it’s alternative exhibitions, interesting architecture and lively restaurants buzzing with studenty and academic types.

We would recommend incorporating it into a ferry trip down the Golden Horn with stop-offs in the old tumble-down Greek and Jewish neighbourhood of Fener and the rather more Orthodox zone of Eyüp.

Note: In Eyüp it’s a pleasant stroll through winding cobbled streets and a scenic cemetery to the Pierre Loti Cafe (on top of the hill, past Eyüp Sultan Mosque) where you can combine apple tea and beautiful views of the Golden Horn. (Pierre Loti Cafe: Gumussuyu Balmumcu Sik 1, Eyüp, Istanbul).
