Rockbund Art Museum (RAM) is Shanghai’s first private art museum, located in a historic building on the Bund that was recently given a revamp by British architect David Chipperfield.
The museum seems the the most likely of the city’s institutions to put on a reliably good show. The cafe on the top floor is also worth a look for the view onto surrounding Shanghia.
While you’re in the ‘hood, you may like to check out the high calibre commercial galleries nearby such as Shanghai Gallery of Art (at 3 on the Bund) and 18 Gallery at Bund 18. Note that the museum is closed on Mondays.
