For a town of its size Palm Springs has an impressive art gallery with works by leading American artists including Andy Warhol, Roy Lichtenstein, Donald Judd, Alexander Calder and Ansel Adams. In terms of more unusual offerings, visitors may be more interested by the displays devoted to local Native American arts and Western Art. Look out for desert landscape photography by Stephen H. Willard and materials from architect Albert Frey’s archive.

We were pleased to discover that plans are underway for an Architecture & Design Center that will capitalise on the city’s rich architecture heritage.  Note that the museum building was designed by E. Stewart Williams, a prolific local architect who also designed the Palm Springs residence of Frank Sinatra. The new architecture centre will open with a retrospective devoted to William’s work in Fall 2014.
