Originally from Austria, architect Richard Neutra migrate to California where his sleek modern style – and his ‘inside out’ approach of connecting the indoors with the outdoors – was wonderfully suited to the local climate, culture and lifestyle.  Neutra quickly became one of the most influential Modernist architects and designed  Palm Springs’ most iconic house – The Kaufmann Desert House. (You can catch a peek of it on a Modernist House Tour.)

This beautiful book documents all of Neutra’s works (nearly 300 residences and public buildings) with around 1000 photographs. It includes of course Julius Shulman’s legendary photographs of the Kaufmann House, which helped propel both men to global recognition.
