“Coffee snobs are welcome.” Yes, the blackboard says it all at KronotRop, Istanbul’s first Third Wave coffee haunt – and proud of it. We can’t think of a better place for a caffeine jolt than this cute Istanbul cafe. Coffee here – organic, single origin, fair trade – does come at a price, but just pay up, inhale and enjoy knowing that if it’s good for the planet, then it’s good for you too! If you are the kind of desperado who actually needs to travel with their own brew, we recommend that you stock up on it here.

For coffee the old fashioned way take yourself to Fazıl Bey who are said to do the best Turkish coffee in Istanbul ( Serasker Caddesi 1A, Kadıköy; Tel: +90 2164502870; Open daily 8am-9pm). Fazil Bey have been around too long to partake in any of this new-fangled Third Wave coffee business, but they do roast and grind their own Brazilian beans on the premises. Making coffee is considered an art here the busy Kadıköy Market location ensures there’s plenty to keep you amused. They also do a mean cup of apple tea.
