It is a cliche but Istanbul truly is a feast for the eyes, but more importantly the stomach and the city has inspired British food writer and journalist Rebecca Seal to pen Istanbul: Recipes from the Heart of Turkey. This suitably mouthwatering tome encompasses a mezze of enticing recipes – from simple starters like warm hummus with pastrima to hearty mains with a Turkish zing like sumakli kofte (beef meatballs with sumac) or the lacey-looking desert kunefe (ricotta pudding). Full credit must go to London food photographer Steven Joyce for bringing this book to such artful life.
